My 1st trip to Regine: Pushy girls want tips for smiling at you, waiter charges $15 for a ladies drink. Broke in short time.

2nd visit: Dropped in while walking through in the day. 4~5 "Dancers" there. All obvious transexuals or transvestites. One came up and started rubbing against me so I ducked out pronto.

3rd (and final) visit... Okay, Okay, I should have learned by now. But a fellow #aspt chatter had said that he had seen some beautiful girls there. I came in, ordered a drink, was immediately pressured by a youngish girl with curly blond hair to sit with her. I'm a pushover, what can I say? I buy her a drink ($5.50 this time) and pay with a $10 putting the rest of my money back in my pocket. Two twenties and some ones. When I get the drink change I go to add it to the other bills and guess what? I only seem to have $2 left! Her hand quickly comes down from her hair band and she starts saying "Your money is gone? You crazy, you crazy!". The money was there less than 1 minute ago, connect the dots. I don't drink alcohol so I was fairly alert. Now the last thing I want to do is get in a fight with a third world thief at 2 AM on a Tuesday night. And I did have $200 more in my money belt which I luckily bought the week before. So I just bailed.

Conclusions: 3 for 3 should be enough for even a dimwitted, thick skulled pervert like me. There are so many places in TJ where the girls work honestly for their money (Adelita's, Chicago, etc.) and I am happy to give it to them for what they give me. Why go to this place where the policy seems to be to take the customer for all you can get anyway you can get it. My recommendation is to run, not walk, away if you are going down Revolucion and Regines barkers start their hard sell on you. One more lesson learned.

that would be enough for me too (and settles my curiousity about visiting)- they have a pretty Neon sign, but that's about it.

Peanuts & Beer (two floors) does have some good looking dancers, but their $15 lap dance is done out in the open. Madonas $5 lap dance is comparable, and their $20 one is mucho mejor.

Stick with 'class': Madonas or the Penthouse for pre ZN activities.

I've got to stick my $.02 into this one since I've been to Regine many times. Everything CapnFlash said about the place is true and worse - so it probably doesn't deserve our patronage until they clean up their act. In my mind, its the most relentless hustle plus the highest amount of criminality I've encountered in any club in TJ. Having said that, I've got to add that I've had many a good time there. If you go during prime time (not daytime), the dancers are gorgeous women - of the exotic Mexican variety - the TVs/TSs are relegated to working the perimeter of the club hustling cheap tricks and picking pockets. Bottom line is that if you have the energy to fight off the hustle and guard against the cons and ripoffs, you can have a wild time with a very pretty girl in a secluded booth, in the lap dance area, or in a hotel. I admit that everytime I go there I feel like I'm entering a war zone - but I've come to know what to expect and sometimes I've just been hooked up to something golden there for my efforts. If you are up to the battle, make sure you do not keep any loose cash in an accessible pocket; when you buy a drink, announce clearly the denomination of the bill that you are paying with since they like to slide your $20 up their sleeve and say that you gave them something less (this is mostly a hazard with the barker who brings you in - the club waitresses are generally honest); if you forget and they pull this con on you, tell them firmly that you gave them $20 or whatever and they will back down - but don't make a scene and start hollering or you'll probably get thrown down the stairs; don't let the gender benders get anywhere close to you - they only want to rip you off; ask how much a ladies' drink is before you buy - you'll likely get quoted a much more reasonable price than $15 - the answer I've usually received was in the neighborhood of $5 or $6; and its true that some of these girls will ask you for a tip just for approaching you - just assertively say no, no, no, no - you get the point - practice saying no before you go! Bottom line is they want ALL your money - but if they can't get it, they'll be satisfied to back off and settle for what your willing to spend honestly. So again, I wouldn't blame anyone for boycotting this joint, but you can have a good time at Regine if you insist on having it your way.

It was such a discussion as this that made me try it just one more time. Being so late in the evening I'm afraid I let my guard down a bit too much. But who really wants to go out for a good time and have to keep your guard up so much. If you are really in the mood for adventure, you can probably have a good time there. But I say tell the barkers "Nada en allí pero ladrones y maricones" (Nothing in there but thieves and queers) when they try to hustle you in. Maybe if they can see that the are losing enough business the will clean it up a bit.
