Copacabana

This is the best area to stay for a sex traveller. During the day you can pick up prostitutes here on the beach or in the beach side cafes and restaurants. The popular pick up places on Copacabana beach are in front of the Othon Palace Hotel and to a lesser extent the Hotel Meridien.

In the afternoon the hookers sit in many outdoor restaurants along Avenida Atlantica. The most popular ones are Meia Pataca near Othon Palace Hotel and Mab’s across Rua Princesa Isabel from the Hotel Meridien. A glass of beer in these restaurants costs around $2. During the day most girls quote short time at your hotel prices between $35 and $100.

At night the centre of activity moves to the discotheque Help in Avenida Atlantica. By 11 pm the cafe tables in front of the disco are packed with hookers and their customers. The disco opens at around 11 pm and large part of the crowd moves there. Admission fee to the disco is around $10. Attractive white skinned girls ask for $100 -150 for short time(!). If the night is young they will not bargain. However, later in the morning prices will go down. So if you are a night owl you can get a girl for around $50 after negotiating and maybe even for a few hours. Some hookers will never compromise on price and often go home alone after closing.

You will see many outrageously dressed prostitutes standing by the traffic lane of Avenida Atlantica at night. They are picked up by passing motorists. We recommend to stay away from these ‘ladies’ as many of them are transvestites.

If you prefer a more regulated atmosphere go to boites, small strip bars, around Princess Isabel Avenue and Avenida Atlantica. Pussycat Bar, Las Vegas, Erotika, Night and Day, Franks Club, and the Scoth Bar are just a few of them. You can find their addresses in tourist brochures about Rio. They start at 11 pm. Admission is $10-20 and includes 1-3 free drinks. Inside you will find 10-20 girls, most casually dressed and sitting. There are a few dancers, some may be nude. Sometimes there are samba and live sex shows. Girls cost about $100 for short time and you have to pay another $20 to the bar to take her out. You can negotiate the price down with some girls. Most of them are in their twenties. Generally these bars are a rip off especially if you buy drinks for the girls. The atmosphere is somewhat gloomy and a bit boring in contrast to the go-go bars in Thailand or the Philippines. These places primarily attract Brazilian and Japanese clientele.

In Rio there are many massage parlours locally called termas. They are legal brothels ranging in price from $35 to $300 per hour. They advertise in the classified section of local newspapers and all cab drivers know about them.

L’houmo at Rua Siquiera Campos 143 is the most recommended terma in Copacabana. It is in a nice building which belongs to a large three storey shopping mall. It is on the first floor. Girls here are good looking and will cost you around $120 an hour. On entering the establishment you have to pay a membership fee of $20 and then to proceed to a changing room and showers. You leave your money in a locker which is quite safe. After shower you go to a disco bar where girls (dressed) are and one beer costs around $1.5. You can choose the girl you like and take her then to one of the rooms. After set time of 40 or 60 minutes a bell will ring to let you know the session has ended.

If you try and hit on all the girls sitting in the sidewalk cafe’s along the beach here you will most likley get slapped a few times. For the most part the only 2 sidewalk cafe’s that attract the working girls are Meia Pataca and Mabs. Also the beers are R$2. or 2 reais and the girls you say you can get for only 35reais I would not touch… I also think you should be careful how you write prices it’s R$100 for reais…

L’houmo at Rua Siquiera Campos 143 is the most recommended terma in Copacabana.

I have been living here for over 1 year and not too many people recomend L’houm, although it is a very nice Therma, more like Solarium or Monti Carlo or 4 x 4 or 65. Again prices are written as R$100-R$150. If you write them as $100-$150 you might scare off some future tourists.
